What is a Jejemon?

Know anyone who types "jejeje" instead of "hehehe"? That's a Jejemon! Usually seen around social networking sites (Facebook, Friendster and Multiply) and texting, jejemons are individuals who are tYpFing LyK diZS jejejeje, making all people viewing their profile raise irritated. Normal people like us must make an effort just to read and understand "jejetyping". Deciphering their text would cause a lot of frustration and hair pulling. And these jejemons are spreading fast.

There has been also stereotyping on Filipinos on the term Jejemon. They say that Jejemons are trying-hard Filipino gangsters and

emos. And sometimes they define Jejemons as poor Filipinos who dress up as 'GaNgZtaHz' and use txt language.

Basically anyone with a low tolerance in correct punctuation, syntax and grammar. Jejemons are usually hated or hunted down to change their grammatical ways. There's even a hate page for jejemons on Facebook called Jejemon Haters and Jejemon Busters. More Jejemon definitions on urbandictionary.com. Jejemons are also featured in a GMA news show.

The best approach is to let the film make itself, to let it grow organically, day by day. To find the rhythm of the director. To match a script to its space. To gain the confidence of the actors. To regulate the mood (good or bad) of the cast and crew.

Fire at Edsa Shangri-La Mall

Image From www.inquirer.net
Fire at Edsa Shangri-La Mall started about 10:30p.m. Friday in the storage room of Rustan’s Supermarket at the basement. The fire struck a 100 square meter storage room of the supermarket. “The cement walls were six inch thick, and the room was enclosed, so the fire was contained in a small area, but the smoke kept spilling out,” Mandaluyong Fire Marshal Nahum Tarroza told the Inquirer. There were still tenants and customers (mainly moviegoers) in the mall when
the fire struck, and they were evacuated and led outside by mall guards.

As of Saturday, the smoke continued to spread through the upper floors, but fire authorities said that there was no danger of the fire spreading to the upper floors. They had to drill holes at the walls to let the smoke out. The cause of the fire is still unknown and currently under investigation.

Aamir Khan Biography

Aamir Khan Biography
Aamir Khan BiographyAamir Khan Biography: Aamir Khan, with his penchant for perfection and professionalism, is one of the few method actors in Bollywood, who has taken acting to a whole new level. An actor, director, producer, playback singer, a state tennis champion, and mentor to his nephew – he’s all that and more.

A Step Back In Time
Aamir Khan celebrates his birthday on 14th March. He was born on 1965 in Mumbai to Tahir and Zeenat Hussain. He has three siblings Faisal, Farhat, and Nikhat. The film industry was part of his life growing up as many members of his family were a part of it like his father, his late uncle Nasir Hussain, and his cousin Mansoor Khan. It was Mansoor Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak that brought him success.

Aamir’s family roots can be traced back to Afghanistan. He is said to be a descendant of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who was a scholar and political leader and Dr.Zakir Hussain, the former President of India. Dr.Najma Heptullah, who was a Chairperson in the Rajya Sabha is his second cousin.

Even as his first hit Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak made him an overnight heartthrob across the country, he married his sweetheart Reena Dutta secretly as their parents opposed the marriage. She even made a blink-and-you-will-miss appearance in his song Papa Kehte Hai in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. They have two children Junaid and Ira. The couple filed for divorce in 2002. Soon after, in 2005 he married Kiran Rao, who was an assistant director on the sets of Lagaan.

Aamir was honoured with the Padma Bhushan award by the Government of India in 2003. He turned down the offer to replicate him in wax by Madame Tussaud’s. He was also a tennis champion representing the state of Maharashtra.

Trailblazing Years
Nasir Hussian’s Yaadon Ki Baarat, one of the hits in 1973, had Aamir playing Ratan in his younger days.

The Eighties
He made his debut in Ketan Mehta’s Holi in 1984. The film also had Ashutosh Gowariker as part of its cast, who was a friend of Aamir and later went on to direct the award winning Lagaan. But it was in 1988, with the release of Mansoor Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, loosely adapted from Romeo and Juliet, which brought Aamir into the limelight. The film was a big favourite among film-goers and Aamir won the Filmfare Best Debut Actor Award. He received several nominations for the Filmfare Best Actor Award until he finally nailed it in 1996. In 1989, he had two releases. Raakh was a non-commercial film and his performance as Aamir Hussein was recognized. The second film was Love, Love, Love another teen love story with Juhi Chawla.

The Nineties
The 1990 release Dil with Madhuri Dixit made a big splash on the film scene. In 1991, in the remake of It Happened One Night, Mahesh Bhatt’s Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, he played Raghu Jetley, an out of work journalist, who comes across Pooja Dharamchand, a spoilt brat played by Pooja Bhatt. The film was a big success. In 1992, he had another hit with Mansoor Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.

Aamir continued to work in one or two films a year, a majority of which became unforgettable hits. Mahesh Bhatt’s Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ki in 1993 paired him with Juhi Chawla, and did extremely well. In 1994, he shared screen space with another Big Khan of Bollywood, Salman Khan, in Andaz Apna Apna, which was lighthearted and fun. Ram Gopal Verma’s Rangeela in 1995, gave him a new look as Munna. It turned out to be a blockbuster. The same year he had another hit in, Akele Hum Akele Tum, with Manisha Koirala. His role as Rohit Kumar, a failed playback singer and single father, was well-received.

In 1996, he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Raja Hindustani, a love story between a taxi driver and an heiress. The film won several awards. He acted in Ishq, a romantic comedy and a multi starrer, which enjoyed good reception in 1997. Ghulam, in 1998, had Aamir singing ‘Aati Kya Khandaala’ to Rani Mukherji. His two films – John Mathew Mathan’s Sarfarosh and Deepa Mehta’s Earth 1947 – were critical and commercial successes. He played IPS officer Ajay Singh Rathod intent on fighting terrorism in Sarfarosh. In Earth 1947, he played Dil, the ice-candy man, caught in a love triangle. It was set during the partition of India and Pakistan and the resulting bloodshed.

2000 Onwards Aamir’s only release in 2000 was Mela with his brother Faisal Khan. The film did not do well at the box office.

In 2001, he produced and starred as Bhuvan, a villager in British occupied India, in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Lagaan. He won the Filmfare Best Actor Award. The film was India’s entry to the Best Foreign Language Film category at the Academy Awards. However it lost to No Man’s Land. His other hit the same year was in complete contrast to Bhuvan. He played the suave and urban Akash Malhotra in Dil Chahta Hai, a fresh look at friendship between three men.

After taking a break from films for nearly four years, he returned in 2005, with Mangal Pandey – The Rising. The film’s performance was average and got caught up in controversies about how accurately or inaccurately the Sepoy was shown on screen. In the 2006 release, Rang De Basanti, he played a laidback DJ who tries to take justice in his hands. In Fanaa with Kajol, he played Rehan Khan, a terrorist. His performance in Rang De Basanti won him a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. He made his debut as a director with Taare Zameen Par in 2007. He also produced and acted in this film about a dyslexic. It was a critical and commercial success in India and overseas. In the early part of 2008, he launched his nephew Imran Khan in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Aamir produced the film along with his cousin Mansoor and it went on to be a major hit.

Christmas 2008 saw the release of the much talked about Ghajini, a remake of the Tamil film by the same name. Aamir played Sanjay Singhania, who suffers from short term memory loss and his quest for revenge. The movie was a high earner which broke previous industry records. His 2009 release, Three Idiots, was based on Chetan Bhagat’s popular novel Five Point Someone. It starred Kareena Kapoor, Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi. The movie received a thumbs up from the public and critics.

Up Next
He is producing Delhi Belly which has Imran Khan in the lead. Aamir will be seen in a brief appearance, mostly in an ‘item’ number.

Next Generation iPhone Leaked

A real iPhone prototype was leaked when an Apple engineer named Gray Powell lost it in a German ales in Redwood City. It was even camouflaged to look like an iPhone 3GS.  Seeing the pictures, Apple changed a lot in its design. Gizomodo was the one who got the phone and disassembled it.

This is what Gizmodo found out about the leaked iPhone:

What's new
• Front-facing video chat camera
• Improved regular back-camera (the lens is quite noticeably larger than the iPhone 3GS)
• Camera flash
• Micro-SIM instead of standard SIM (like the iPad)
• Improved display. It's unclear if it's the 960x640 display thrown around before—it certainly looks like it, with the "Connect to iTunes" screen displaying much higher resolution than on a 3GS.
• What looks to be a secondary mic for noise cancellation, at the top, next to the headphone jack
• Split buttons for volume
• Power, mute, and volume buttons are all metallic

What's changed
• The back is entirely flat, made of either glass (more likely) or ceramic or shiny plastic in order for the cell signal to poke through. Tapping on the back makes a more hollow and higher pitched sound compared to tapping on the glass on the front/screen, but that could just be the orientation of components inside making for a different sound
• An aluminum border going completely around the outside
• Slightly smaller screen than the 3GS (but seemingly higher resolution)
• Everything is more squared off
• 3 grams heavier
• 16% Larger battery
• Internals components are shrunken, miniaturized and reduced to make room for the larger battery

More detailed information and images on the next iPhone at Gizmodo.com. If you want to know about how the next generation iPhone was lost by Gray Powell, you can read the article here.

3D Book Technology Developed by South Korean Scientists

Image Via tech.bangladeshio.com
This is just awesome! Its like being in a futuristic movie. But of course you still need to wear those 3D glasses. But did you ever thought that this would become a reality? 3DTV has just recently started to launch and now this. Seeing the wildest animals and creatures popping out of your books and walking around in your book's pages.

South Korean scientists in Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology have developed two story books for children using the 3D technology (Digilog Book Format) that makes
characters literally leap off the page. the two books are the earlier domestic version of digilog book which was made with 3 years of research.

“The Digilog Book is in the final development phase and will become available to the public in the near future,” said, Sang-cheol Kim, head of team responsible for overseeing content development. “It will take a while to market this technology to the general public,” Kim added.

The digilog book or "e-book", allows readers to view content in 3D, in addition to being able to touch and smell the objects. Researchers used this "digilog book" technology to animate two children’s books of Korean folk tales, complete with writhing dragons and heroes bounding over mountains. Watch the sample video below.

Would you want a 3D-TV?

Image Via www.pcworld.com
3D home entertainment brought to your own home. With James Cameron's 3D blockbuster "Avatar" fueling the want for 3D entertainment, 3D TV could be the next big thing in consumer electronics. That's why the electronic companies like sony, samsung, LG and others are pushing 3D-TV this year. Saw an actual Sony Bravia 3D-TV last weekend in Shangri-la Mall in Ortigas, Pasig. They were playing
"Wheel of Fortune" in 3D.  It's great to have your own 3D-TV at home but having a huge price tag and not to mention limited sources of content, I think it would take few more years for 3D-TV to be preferred by consumers.

"Experts agree that 3D TV is still in its early days. What this means for consumers is that there is still too little content, distribution is scarce, and technical kinks on the TVs still need to be worked out." [CNET]

Image Via 3dguy.tv
3D-TV is not only for movies but also offered in gaming. 3D gaming is not as far as we think anymore. 3D-TVs also aimed to attract gamers alike. Sony is really pushing 3D technology just as they did with Blu-ray. In Europe, Sony bundles their new HX803-series Bravia 3DTV with 4 free 3D PS3 games (WipEout HD, MotorStorm Pacific Rift, Super Stardust HD and PAIN).

"2010 promises to be the year of 3D TV, and there's no shortage of eye-popping displays on the way."[PCWorld] And maybe not 3DTV alone, but 3D in general. With  Hollywood movies coming out as 3D, 3D games taking huge interest in the gaming world and even 3D books for kids, I can't wait what we would come up next.

Viagra for Women?

Image Via www.newsline365.com
A new Viagra(erectile dysfunction drug) is now on the works. Pfizer says that a female version of Viagra is possible. Most attempts to treat female sexual dysfunctions failed, but this new Viagra prototype from Pfizer offers that possibility. Pfizer hopes for a female-specific treatment for those with female sexual arousal disorder, FSAD.

Researchers have already started to test the drug on rabbits and shows
promising results. It can increase blood flow specifically to the genitalia, enhancing and extending the duration of arousal. But the drug would not help all types of female sexual arousal disorder.

"This is the closest thing out there to Viagra for women," says Sheryl Kingsberg, chief of the division of behavioral medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, "but the problem is that a Viagra-like effect will not solve the majority of sexual dysfunction cases in women. "In contrast to men in whom erections have played a huge role in sexual health, for women arousal is not the key problem, desire is," she said.

Flight Cancellations Worldwide: Iceland Volcano Eruption

Image Via news.yahoo.com
An ash cloud from Iceland's spewing volcano halted air traffic across Europe on Thursday April 15. Thousands of flights from European airports have been canceled, stranding tens of thousands of passengers, and officials said it was not clear when it would be safe enough to fly again. The flight cancellations is caused by the cloud of ash thrown up by the eruption of Iceland's volcano.

Iceland's second volcano eruption in less than a month melted part of a glacier and caused heavy flooding on Wednesday, forcing up to 800 people to evacuate and grounding some flights over Norway. According to geophysicist Gunnar Gunnarsson of

Iceland's Meteo Institute, the eruption was in "the southwestern part of Eyjafjallajokull's top crater". [Manila Bulletin]

Airport Delays [flightstats]
Several countries have closed their airspace or are expected to later in the day, including Britain, Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Switzerland. This also includes Heathrow airport, Europe's busiest. You can check flight cancellations or delays at Flightstats. Or if you would want to view real time air traffic in Europe visit flightradar24.

Real-Time Air Traffic [flightradar24]
"To clear the ash we either need the volcano to stop belching debris or we need a change in the weather. Unfortunately, we have a high pressure just to the south of Iceland. This one is a 'blocking high', a high pressure that has essentially got stuck, and forces all the other weather to go around it." says Steff Gaulter, Al Jazeera's senior meteorologist. [Aljazeera]

Actor Abhishek Bachchan Biography

Actor Abhishek Bachchan Biography
Actor Abhishek Bachchan BiographyAbhishek Bachchan Biography: Abhishek Bachchan, the anything but angry young man, came out of the shadows as Amitabh Bachchan’s son to build a success story in Bollywood.

His father’s son
He was born as Abhishek Amitabh Srivastav on 5 Feb 1976 in Mumbai. What set him apart from other babies born on that day was that he was the son of superstar extraordinaire Amitabh Bachchan and actress Jaya Bachchan of the Guddi fame, who is currently a Samajwadi MP at the Rajya Sabha. He has an older sister Shweta. He’s also the grandson of Harivansh Rai Srivastav (pen-name Harivansh Rai Bachchan) who was an acclaimed poet. Both Abhishek and Amitabh took on the ‘Bachchan’ from this pen-name. Abhishek is partly Punjabi Sikh on his paternal side and a Bengali Kulin Brahmin on his maternal side.

The 6’3” tall Abhishek studied at the Jamnabhai Narsee School and Bombay Scottish School, both located in Mumbai and also Modern School in New Delhi. His college years were spent in Aiglon College, Switzerland amongst the cheese, clocks, and banks. He moved to Boston University in U.S to study business only to return back to India to help his father with ABCL, which was hit by a financial crisis.

He was engaged to the controversially sexy Karishma Kapoor back in 2002. They went public during his father’s sixtieth birthday celebration. It lasted as long as January 2003. He got engaged to ‘the most beautiful woman on earth’ Aishwarya Rai in 2007 and tied the knot with her a few months later at the Bachchan’s residence, Prateeksha.

Ads
Abhishek Bachchan has endorsed brands like Motorola and Idea Cellular. He appeared with Aishwarya in the Lux ad and the star couple will be seen together in a PETA campaign.

Bachchan Junior’s Movies
Abhishek’s first film was Refugee opposite Kareena Kapoor in 2000. The film was not a blockbuster but a good debut vehicle nonetheless. He got nominated for the Filmfare Best Debut Award. His acting career dipped from here on as he went on to act in several films that didn’t boost him up to the star status enjoyed by his parents. Some of the films that he starred in between 2000 and 2003 were Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai, Om Jai Jagdish, and Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hoon.

Come 2004 and our boy showed that persistence pays off as he delivered some brilliant performances. In 2004, he starred in Mani Rathnam’s Yuva as a goon Lallan Singh, winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Award. He then had another major hit with Dhoom in which he played the part of ACP Jai Dixit. Another film worth taking note of in the same year was Phir Milenge, a recycled version of the Hollywood film Philadelphia, revolving around AIDS. Abhishek played the lawyer Tarun Anand.

In 2005, he had a runaway hit in the comedy Bunty Aur Babli with Rani Mukherji, which had shades of the Hollywood hit Bonnie & Clyde. It was the first film where he appeared alongside his father Amitabh Bachchan. The second film with his father, Ram Gopal Verma’s political thriller Sarkar, was also a major hit. Abhishek’s portrayal of Shankar Nagre won him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. He also did some guest appearances in films like Salaam Namaste and Neal n Nikki. He wrapped up the year with Bluffmaster with Priyanka Chopra, in which he sang the number ‘Right Here, Right Now’ which was one of the top tunes of the year.

The year 2006 saw him in some of the biggest flicks of the year like Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehana that won him his third Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. He also made a brief appearance as Sunny Kurana in the sequel, Lage Raho Munna Bhai. He played Nawab Sultan Khan in Umrao Jaan with his real-life bride Aishwarya Rai. The film didn’t do as well as expected. However, the sequel Dhoom 2 did a great job at the box office.

In 2007, while Jhoom Barabar Jhoom didn’t perform as well in India as overseas, he did justice to Gurukant Desai in Guru, which also starred Aishwarya Rai. The sequel Sarkar Raj, with Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, again pulled in the moolah at the box office. He had only two films lined up in 2008 – Drona, which was a below average performer, and Dostana where he was paired opposite the hunky John Abraham.

In 2009, Abhishek had two releases – Delhi 6 and Paa. While Delhi 6 received mixed reviews, Paa received applause. In this movie, his father played the role of his son who is suffering from a rare disease.

Stay tuned
Year 2010 will see Abhishek with Aishwarya in two movies- Mani Ratnam’s Raavan and Abhinay Deo’s Crooked.

H.A.A.R.P. stands for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program. It has been rumored that this is a "weather machine" that causes major calamities and is been the source and cause of the recent major earthquakes around the globe.

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is an ionospheric research program jointly funded by the US Air Force, the US Navy, the University of Alaska and the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).Its purpose is to analyze the ionosphere and investigate the potential for developing ionospheric enhancement technology for radio communications and surveillance purposes (such as missile detection).

Saw this video explaining the conspiracy theories surrounding the HAARP project:

HAARP is the subject of numerous conspiracy theories, with individuals ascribing various hidden motives and capabilities to the project. Journalist Sharon Weinberger said that the popularity of conspiracy theories often overshadows the benefits HAARP may provide to the scientific community. Skeptic computer scientist David Naiditch called HAARP "a magnet for conspiracy theorists", saying the project has been blamed for triggering catastrophes such as floods, droughts, hurricanes, thunderstorms, and devastating earthquakes in Afghanistan and the Philippines aimed to "shake up" terrorists.

According to Naiditch, HAARP is an attractive target for conspiracy theorists because "its purpose seems deeply mysterious to the scientifically uninformed". Conspiracy theorists have also raised the possibility that HAARP may have played a role in the devastating, highly damaging earthquakes that occurred in Sichuan, China in 2008, and Haiti and Chile in 2010. An opinion piece on a Venezuelan state-run television channel's website blamed HAARP as a cause of the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

China earthquake kills hundreds in Xinhua

Image Via http://news.bbc.co.uk/
A 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck China's Qinghai province early Wednesday at 7:49 a.m. local time. Many people were probably still at home and kids were just about to school.
The USGS also recorded three strong aftershocks all within two hours of the first quake. The aftershocks were of magnitudes 5.8, 5.2 and 5.3.

About 300 people were killed, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported, adding that another 8,000 have been injured. "We have to mainly rely on our hands to clear away the debris as we have no large excavating machines," police officer Shi Huajie told Xinhua. "We have no medical equipment, either."[CNN]

"Soldiers have been dispatched to save the people buried in the collapsed houses," local official Huang Limin was quoted as saying by China's state news agency Xinhua.[BBC]

Maybe conspiracy theorist will again say that this is another doing of HAARP.

Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal:
"The movie's stars, Steve Carell and Tina Fey, are exactly what they seem. They're perfect casting in a short, sweet comedy that makes the most of their genial gifts until it loses its sense of proportion."
Mary F. Pols, TIME Magazine:
"It's a lively, often astute piece of marital sociology wrapped up in an action frolic involving an extremely average New Jersey couple."
Peter Travers, Rolling Stone:
"Here’s proof that Tina Fey and Steve Carell could squeeze laughs out of a phone book."
Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly:
"Carell and Fey project an intellectual sharpness and an understanding of what's important in life — and what's ridiculous — that are the hallmarks of endearingly sane adults capable of sustaining both a hot career and a warm marriage-with-children."
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times:
"A movie like Date Night encourages Hollywood comedy to occasionally dial down, and realize that comedy emerges from characters and situations and can't be manufactured from manic stunts and overkill."
Lael Loewenstein, Village Voice:
"A romantic comedy with action, edge and genuine chemistry between its leads, Date Night scores a home run."

Five people, including three Marines, were killed in a series of separate explosions and an ambush in the southern Philippine island province of Basilan on Tuesday.

Philippine Marines commandant Maj. Gen. Juancho Sabban described the incidents as "acts of terrorism," even as authorities have yet to determine the perpetrators.

"I think this is to create havoc in that area. I don’t know who the specific targets are but definitely it falls under terrorism, that is to create chaos," Sabban said.

He said he could not yet tell if the attacks had something to do with the upcoming May elections, but assured the military was already "on top of things."

Police and military officials said there were at least three separate explosions that rocked the province between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Senior Superintendent Antonio Mendoza, Basilan provincial police director, said the first blast happened inside a van in front of the Basilan National High School in Isabela City at about 10:30 a.m.

Killed in the incident were a still unidentified civilian and a man in police uniform. Authorities are still verifying if he was indeed a policeman.

When responding Marines and policemen rushed to the site, they were fired upon by snipers.

Sabban said three Marines were killed, but refused to identify the fatalities since their families have yet to be informed of the incident.

"Initially, the target were civilians... now the responding Marines are the ones being engaged," Sabban said in Filipino.

About 11 a.m., a second explosion rocked the province, this time in front of the Basilan Cathedral. No one was injured in the second blast.

Sabban said the third explosion happened "near the residence of Judge Principe of Isabela."

Judge Leo Jay Principe of the Basilan Regional Trial Court Branch 1 is the judge who issued arrest warrants against at least 130 members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Abu Sayyaf in 2007 for the killing of 14 Marines, 10 of whom were beheaded.

As of posting time, authorities were still investigating the incidents.
